Looking up

There are times Andrew despairs of me, actually quite a lot of the time if I'm honest. This particular time it's my love of ironwork, I can't resist it. In England there is still a lot of cast and wrought ironwork but a lot was removed during World War 2, ostensibly to be melted down and turned into aircraft and tanks. This was great for morale but supply exceeded need and much of it was believed to be dumped in land fill and the North Sea.

Many French buildings still have ornate ironwork, beautiful designs even on relatively humble dwellings. Photographing doors is relatively easy but craning my neck (and not looking where I'm going) to capture a balcony can be a little more problematic!
